MCCDC WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME DR. MICHAEL BRITT AS OUR NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dr. Michael Britt is a proud native of Oakland, California. He was inspired to become an
educator by his grandparents, and, upon the completion of the first of two graduate degrees at
Stanford University, went on to receive multiple awards and recognition for exceptional
teaching including an Outstanding Teacher Award at Palo Alto High School. Dr. Britt completed
the requirements for a doctoral degree while teaching fulltime and was asked to serve as
Director for the Stanford youth Opportunity Program (YOP). He is credited for bringing about a
total renaissance to a struggling youth employment program along with an exceptional team of
dedicated faculty members and staff who served as supervisors and mentors. Britt also
developed a multiple community and state award-winning job training program in partnership
with several community agencies to employ underserved individuals in the communities
surrounding Stanford and the San Jose Area. In addition to program development and
management, Dr. Britt held multiple adjunct teaching appointments while serving as an
advancement professional during two major campaigns at Stanford. He has presented at
several regional and national Council for the Advancement of Service in Education (CASE) and
Association for Fund Raising Professionals (AFP) Conferences.
Recruited by one of Harvard’s teaching hospitals, Dr. Britt has invested over a decade to
fund raising on the East Coast including four years of service at the University of Rhode Island
Foundation prior to returning home to the Bay Area to continue the challenge of transforming
lives.
